Death Valley

On the road between Yosemite park and Las Vegas, was death Valley. Vast, empty, beautiful and foreboding. Its a desert valley, with dunes, salt flats, old mines, the lowest altitude in the US, and the highest recorded temperature on earth.

Marcel Breuer's Wassilly chair is perhaps my favorite piece of bent steel furniture. When seen at an angle, which is most of the time, it has this spiderweb built by a german engineer look.

Vat Xieng Thong

Built in 1560, Vat Xieng Thong is a lovely Buddhist temple at the far tip of Luang Prabang. The various buildings are covered in carvings and mosaics depicting scenes from Buddha's life, dharmachakras, the tree of life and Lao legends.
